Our Founders

Troy Belle, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

An independent scholar and organic thinker, Troy’s mission is to bring forward the culture of the African Diaspora in a positive and fun way. Troy considers himself to be an educator connecting culture with entertainment. The seeds of SunnEvents were planted during Troy’s background in NYC nightclub promotion and cultural public event planning.

Building on his experience and combining both worlds, Troy began to develop events that incorporated cultural exchange and social mingling.  Troy has also served the New York cultural community for over 15 years at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

Tahnia Belle, Chief Creative Officer (CCO)

Tahnia fills the role of CCO with extensive experience as a nonprofit professional and the heart of an artist. For fifteen years Tahnia has managed and developed social impact and leadership development projects for public and nonprofit institutions including The City University of New York, The Africa-America Institute and Columbia University. Her career has spanned the fields of international programs, higher education scholarship management, small business consulting and the arts. As an artist Tahnia explores poetry, dance, theater and film-making, she is currently producing her first film, The Black Angel Party. Tahnia received her BA in Geography and Africana Studies from Hunter College and Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Colorado at Denver with a concentration in nonprofit management.
